Now that you’ve had a week or so floating on that blissful cloud of excitement following the proposal, it’s time to get to work finding your dream team.
With so many things to consider and plan, the prospect of knowing when to book certain suppliers, knowing if they’ll be a good fit, and how to even go about it, can sometimes feel a little daunting.
I’m here to help guide you and make the process as straightforward (and fun) as possible.
Every couple has a unique vision for their day – let your florist know how you see flowers fitting into your big day. This will allow the florist to tailor their response to match your exact requirements (or provide recommendations if you’re not too sure!). Take a look at the below statement, which of them resonates most with you?
HIGH: I want flowers to be a big deal at my wedding – I am very interested in learning how to style my venue with floral installations, and I would love suggestions on unique ideas to decorate my tables using flowers. I am prepared to spend £1500 and upwards to my floral budget.
MEDIUM: I know I want flowers included on my big day. I would like flowers for the tables and have some ideas. I am prepared to spend up to £1250 for my wedding flowers.
LOW: I just need the essential items for my wedding day – I’m happy to be guided by my florist in terms of a colour scheme and the specific flowers used, I just want it to look beautiful. I am prepared to spend up to £500 for my wedding flowers.
It’s best to get into this right away so that you and your florist are on the same page and so that they can set expectations on what your money can get you.
Guest count, the wedding date, specific flowers requested, and what you’d like to order are considerations that can affect the budget, so let your florist as much information as possible at the start so that they can match your vision to your budget.

DON’T leave booking your florist too late – many florists are working hard to juggle rescheduled weddings as well as new weddings. Ensure you allow plenty of time to get the florist that you want.
DO have a good read of their website beforehand – are they able to provide the information that you need to make a decision? Are they super clear with how to go about booking wedding flowers? Is there plenty of inspiration to get you excited about your wedding flowers?
DON’T reach out before you have a date – I always recommend waiting until the date and the venue are secured before anything. I would hate to disappoint you and it’s just better that way.
DO keep an open mind – event florists have spent years honing in on their craft and are the experts when it comes to creating phenomenal wedding flowers on an individual basis. They’ll be able to tell you what the best available flowers are in the month you are getting married in, suggest gorgeous colour combinations based on learned colour theory, and what arrangements work best for your venue. Do provide your inspiration so your florist can match it to their recommendations.
I hope the above tips and tricks have helped – I’m always here to answer any questions you have surrounding your wedding flowers. The Bloominati approach to wedding flowers is relaxed, informed, and fun – if this sounds like a bit of you, let’s get planning!
