Planning the ordering process for your West Sussex wedding flowers is a tricky process that takes a fair bit of time, so I’ll do my best to fill you in on the process that I go through to order your wedding flowers.
Factors that affect the ordering process
How warm the temperature is on the week of your wedding, which Rose varieties we are using in your floral recipe, which wholesaler your Roses are available from, and how open I’d like them to be on your big day all affect which day I select to have them delivered.
Roses will open up faster in the heat, and any florist will tell you the anxiety that comes from controlling this so that they look their best for your wedding day. Roses arrive tight, and through experience, we gage how many days before you say ‘I do’ it will take for them to open up beautifully. Luckily, we have a few tricks up our sleeves from experience and prior knowledge, but that doesn’t stop us from checking every half an hour to ensure they’re still happy.
How COVID-19 has affected wedding flowers
If you’re wanting a specific Rose variety, I will search a number of different wholesalers to see where it is available from, this can also take time. The supply chain has been severely affected by COVID-19, which unfortunately means I am unable to guarantee availability in the weeks running up to your wedding. Where appropriate, I will discuss a second option with you that won’t affect the beautiful colour palette that we have developed together.
Once they arrive
When your lovely and romantic wedding flowers arrive with me, the conditioning process begins, and this is repeated every day or so to ensure that the flowers stay in excellent condition, until it’s time to start designing.
The considerations listed above also apply to many other flowers, and knowledge on vase life is key to any florist when it comes to recommending suitable flowers depending on the time of year/season.
I hope the above information provides some insight – if you have any questions about wedding flowers, just pop me an email or a DM on Instagram and I’ll be more than happy to help!
