We love to push our creative boundaries, and are constantly exploring new and exciting ideas to bring fresh inspiration to our style-conscious, madly in love couples in the throngs of planning their dream wedding day. This time, we had the pleasure of working alongside organisers Joy By Ash and Photos By Rachel Wood plus an incredible team of industry experts at the iconic Somerley House. Our goal? To experiment with unique, luxurious floral design inspiration that we can offer to couples looking to create something truly special for their wedding day. Here’s a look at what we got up to.

About Somerley House: An Iconic Venue for Your Dream Wedding

Tucked away in the secluded Hampshire countryside, Somerley House is a venue that beckons couples who dream of elegance, history, and a touch of modern grandeur for their wedding day. Its sprawling gardens and stately interiors make it the perfect space for couples who adore the romance of a timeless English estate but also seek a setting that allows for unique, contemporary touches. This venue is made for couples who want a balance of opulence and modern refinement—where every corner offers the potential for stunning design moments that make their wedding day not just memorable but truly unforgettable.

Our Goal: Showcasing the Vast Floral Possibilities

At Bloominati Florals, our vision for the Somerley House wedding photoshoot was clear: we wanted to showcase how the venue’s iconic features could be elevated through intentional floral design. We envisioned abundant, thoughtful floral details that would energise and inspire couples who are choosing this breathtaking venue for their special day. By blending modern elegance with timeless romance, our goal was to show that the beauty of Somerley House is not just in its grandeur but in how couples can add their personal, stylish stamp to the space through flowers.

The Vision: A Soft, Seamless, and Modern Floral Experience

Somerley House offers a luxurious canvas to bring wedding dreams to life, and our task was to create a floral fantasy that felt soft, seamless, and modern. The venue’s historic architecture is complemented by modern amenities, providing couples with the opportunity to infuse personal touches into their design. Our vision was to weave florals into every aspect of the day, from the ceremony to the reception, ensuring that each design complemented the space while feeling effortless and natural. It was important to us that the florals enhanced the venue without overpowering it, creating an enchanting experience for both the couple and their guests.

The Colour Palette: Softness Meets Drama

For this photoshoot, we wanted the colour palette to perfectly complement the grandeur and elegance of The Drawing Room at Somerley House, creating a unique and intimate setting for the ceremony. We drew inspiration from the soft, romantic tones of spring, carefully selecting a colour story that balanced both subtlety and drama. Elegant ivories, soft champagne tones, and the most muted blush were combined with a touch of buttermilk yellow to add warmth and brightness, creating a palette that was fresh and timeless.

The goal was to create an abundant floral design that felt luxurious without relying on the traditional use of foliage. This allowed the flowers to speak for themselves, maximising the visual impact and allowing the intricate details of the blooms to take centre stage. The softness of the colour palette contrasted beautifully with the grandeur of the room, ensuring that the florals enhanced rather than overshadowed the space.

This palette is perfect for couples who are style-conscious, those who appreciate the finer details and want to make a statement on their wedding day. They’re looking for something luxurious, with a modern twist that their guests will remember, and that will make their wedding photographs feel both romantic and dramatic. It’s a bold approach that invites guests into an elegant world, without sacrificing the warmth and intimacy that every wedding should evoke.

The Ceremony Setting: A Dreamy Somerley House Moment

For the ceremony setting, we turned to The Drawing Room at Somerley House with its stunning grand fireplace. The goal was to frame the fireplace without overpowering its natural grandeur, creating a cohesive design that would allow the couple’s love story to unfold in front of this breathtaking backdrop.

To add another layer of elegance, luxurious silk ribbons from Mia Sylvia, styled by Martha at Anemone Style, were delicately draped through the arrangement, introducing a soft, flowing element to the otherwise bold florals. ilk ribbons, styled by Mia Sylvia and Martha at Anemone Style, added softness to this abundant design and were the perfect finishing touch. The result was a ceremony space that felt both intimate and awe-inspiring—perfect for couples exchanging their vows in front of family and friends.

The ceremony photos are often the most cherished, which is why investing in your florals at this stage is key. We always recommend working with us to determine your visual priorities and how your ceremony florals can be repurposed throughout the day. After the ceremony, these arrangements were seamlessly and strategically dismantled and repurposed to create several showstopping moments throughout the rest of the wedding, more on that shortly! The Picture Gallery: A Trestle Table Floral Fantasy

After the ceremony, the flowers found their second life in The Picture Gallery—a room rich with opulence and grandiose design. A trestle table was lined with an intricate design, full of moments that would captivate and delight guests. The floral meadows that once sat atop the fireplace were now placed on the table, creating an abundant and overflowing table runner. These were paired with mini florals columns that had been part of the ceremony backdrop, which were now transformed into floral waterfalls at the end of each side of the table, creating a dynamic and impressive tablescape.

Taper candles ran down the table, their soft light adding warmth and romance to the space. Gold chairs complemented the gold picture frames adorning the walls, ensuring that every detail worked in harmony to create an unforgettable visual experience for the guests. This cohesive design story is something we take great pride in, ensuring that every element—from the florals to the candles to the linens—works together to create a stunning and stylish space.

The Dessert Scene: An Opulent Finale

As if the ceremony and wedding breakfast weren’t enough, the floral fantasy reached its peak during the dessert scene that was created by the dream team, where flowers and sweet treats created by Sugarplum Bakes Kingston combined to create a memorable and iconic inspirational experience for both the couple and their guests on their wedding day. The individual floral meadows and mini columns that had graced the ceremony and breakfast spaces were repurposed yet again, framing the outdoor patio where the dessert-cutting took place.

This final floral form was dynamic, framing the couple as they shared this special moment. Picture the scene – guests gathered around to witness the occasion, as the couple stood embraced by a warm hug of flowers. The opulence and romance of the design felt like the perfect end to an extraordinary wedding day.

The Bloominati Approach

For couples looking to make a lasting impression, this style captures the essence of both contemporary luxury and timeless elegance. Every flower is intentionally placed to create depth and dimension, ensuring the design not only complements the venue’s unique features but also becomes an unforgettable part of your wedding story. Whether it’s the delicate trailing ribbons or the fullness of the blooms, this floral design is perfect for couples seeking a sophisticated, romantic, and unique atmosphere that reflects their love story while enhancing the natural beauty of their chosen venue.

With these stunning floral inspiration photos from Somerley House, we hope you’re feeling energised and inspired to create your own wedding floral fantasy. Whether you’re dreaming of a grand, opulent design or a soft, intimate affair, we’re here to help bring your vision to life. Let’s create something unforgettable together.
