Bignor Park is one of my favorite Sussex wedding venues to flower, with its striking peach coloured country house that changes colour throughout your wedding day with the meandering sun. While it’s a venue that can take countless different design styles and colour palettes, I find it especially well suited to couples who don’t want a wedding that looks like everyone else’s. Bignor is a traditional stately home, but with a bit of a twist – classic charm meeting modern day detail, and I love to play with these theme in the flowers I create there.

A Chocolate Brown & Pink Wedding Colour Scheme
Floral design concepts that invoke the same delicious associations as well-crafted menus make for an absolute treat for the senses, and that’s exactly what I aim for when creating your wedding flowers. Giving your guests the most wonderful sensory experience from start to finish, with something new to see, smell or brush past at every opportunity, immerses them in your wedding day and invites them to be present. This Bignor Park floral colour scheme was based around the most sumptuous melted chocolate brown, complete with the soft ballet pink of a Ladureé ribbon, and droplets of silky caramel and toffee.
As a wedding colour scheme, this works so well because it’s a complete removal from classic whites, greens and pinks, and so it feels unexpected and therefore impactful. Chocolate is a versatile colour, and could be paired with lots of other gentle pastel tones including butter yellow, powder blue, lilac or peach, so this design could be reimagined in so many different ways to suit you as a couple.

Wedding Ceremony Fabric Draping Installations – The Croquet Lawn
We also wanted to add something dynamic and different with the textiles in this design, and created a wedding ceremony floral concept that used satin fabrics, layered and draped to create a structured arch and flowing, winding aisle. Set on Bignor Park’s Croquet Lawn, which is normally used for marquee dining, it made for a gorgeously unique summer ceremony space with lots of little surprises and delights.
A Moment For The Bouquet…
At Bloominati, I love to design bouquets that feel far removed from classic, expected shapes or wild, foliage-focused creations – my bouquets are made of 100% florals, often asymmetrical or uniquely shaped, and always feature statement stems such as this waxy maroon anthurium.
Your bridal bouquet is part of your wedding day fashion, and it needs to honour your look. In the case of this Bignor Park bouquet, the chocolate, caramel and pink colour scheme was given an edge, because I don’t believe that neutrals or bouquets always have to be soft and pretty.
Bignor Park Drinks Reception Styling on the South Lawns
With such a bold and beautiful ceremony space, it would be a shame not to continue the theme through to the drinks reception. When you work with me, I take the time to chat to you about the guest flow of your wedding day – which spaces of your venue will people walk through, where will they go next, what will they see and do? This means I can identify every opportunity to add florals, ensuring the experience is cohesive in both aesthetic and atmosphere throughout.
The South Lawns at Bignor Park were home to this outdoor bar set up, with styling continued on from the textile installations at the ceremony. Chocolate draping, framing multi-level floral arrangements, and bespoke plinths doubling up as bar menus was all yet more for the eyes to feast on, and all set in front of the soft honey colour of Bignor Park itself…
Wedding Breakfast Florals: Chocolate Serpentine Tables
Bignor Park’s Stables Courtyard is charmingly weathered in all the right ways, meaning we had the opportunity to combine old and new, classic country estate with contemporary styling, and serpentine tables seemed like the obvious choice. Where the Courtyard is comprised of mainly straight lines, harsh textures and natural materials, the tablescapes were soft, curving, dynamic and chic.
Chocolate satin table draping echoed the ceremony design, and steel coupes, en masse caramel sweet peas, layered charger plates and tall glass candle holders decorated the place settings. Clusters of figs were added, tying in beautifully with some of the darker toned florals, and tulle-wrapped menus were the final delicate touch of femininity.
We added yet more statement draping to the Courtyard wall, which the wedding cake was styled in front of. Working with me, there’s never a floral moment that gets missed – everywhere your guests’ attention is turned should be considered.

Couple Portrait Flowers at Bignor Park Steps
Your wedding photos are probably going to be on display forever, and let’s face it, this is probably the most dressed-up and fabulous you’re going to feel as a couple. So why shy away from getting the most incredible couple portraits, the one and only time you’re ever going to do this?
Bloominati couples favour chic, editorial couple photos, and I often work with them to design florals in a certain area of their venue specifically for this purpose. It may be that your ceremony space can double up as a photo backdrop, or in the case of Bignor Park we may transform a different space for this exact reason. Tom & Lolita took to the steps, with those iconic green shutters and coloured walls behind them, and I designed a slightly lighter, brighter floral arrangement to frame their epic portraits.

The Best Wedding Flowers for A Chocolate Colour Scheme
The blooms I used in this design were a mixture of deep chocolate/purple vanda orchids, caramel sweet pea and cymbidium orchids, mocha mauve lissianthus, toffee garden roses, cappuccino roses, chocolate anthuriums, and pale silver garden roses.
Throughout, I emphasised modern form and structure that leaned asymmetrical, ensuring the perfect balance of soft femininity and chic edginess, in a colour scheme that can sometimes read as girly or whimsical when designed in a different way.
