There is nothing more classically romantic than a design of pink and red wedding flowers, and I love to indulge in a dreamy, feminine floral flow. For my couples though, it’s important that we take that timelessness and add a sprinkling of bold, modern style, to both empathise with and enhance the natural beauty of their wedding venue.
At Northbrook Park I placed a big emphasis on the colour palette and contemporary design, using florals to bring out the best of the many beautiful historic features around the venue. It’s never about competing with or dominating the existing grandeur of your wedding venue, but rather creating intentional and thoughtful designs that enhance your space.
The flowers I created here were not just modern in style, but also in essence – thoughtfully considered shapes and structures, intentional textures and delightful details, giving a whole new meaning to romance. Each element of Northbrook, from the grand entryway to the Vine Room’s big arched windows, was lovingly amplified, and every flower intentionally placed.

Using pink and red wedding flowers to enhance Northbrook Park’s historic features
Northbrook Park was built in the 18th century and is now grade II listed, and as a floral designer I see it as my job to enhance its historic characteristics with contemporary blooms. Each of its iconic features deserves to shine in its own right, and I worked on a design that would allow each period piece, this classically romantic colour palette and every carefully selected stem to have its moment.
A visit to Northbrook Park in advance of planning the floral design was key. I measured the fireplace and looked around each of the areas we would be required to repurpose flowers to, ensuring the planned design was as close to reality as possible. When you choose Bloominati for your wedding flowers, we always ensure we know exactly what we are working with ahead of your wedding day – this way, we can deliver above and beyond your expectations.
Doorway Florals
Northbrook Park’s magnificent doorway is your invitation to step into another world, and in the summertime is surrounded by abundant climbing ivy. In November however (when I curated this design), the exterior walls of this Georgian mansion are bare. Both offer unique opportunities for floral design, and on this occasion, I wanted to make a real focal point of the doorway and draw the eye inward to frame the couple.

I created an asymmetrical broken arch, a contemporary sculptural choice against the uniformity of the doorway behind, with a sweeping colour blended effect from deep, luxe burgundy and maroon to the palest, fluffiest pink.
In true Bloominati style, it was dense with flowers without too much foliage on display, with texture and richness of tone taking centre stage. En masse colour blocking was employed, using premium hand-selected blooms such as mauve calla lilies, four different types of rose, spray roses, orchids, cascading amaranth and fluffy gypsophila. I love to source varieties that you don’t often see at weddings, crafting truly out-of-the-box designs that delight with their unexpected details.
Fireplace Florals
The Vine Room at Northbrook Park is particularly fabulous in winter because of its spectacular fireplace (and underfloor heating!), and this is one feature that always demands attention.
Once again I designed pink and red wedding flowers in a form that both opposed and enhanced the regularity of the space, giving the illusion that they were falling from the ceiling, cascading across the fireplace top and dripping onto the floor below. Groupings of colour-blended roses created eye-catching abundance, and the addition of playful trailing amaranthus added a modern wildness to bring the whole design to life.
The pale-coloured walls of the Vine Room make such a lovely blank canvas, and this colour palette is perfect for injecting depth and fun into the versatile space. Working with sympathy to the history of the building is not only beneficial, it is key to a design that emerges as truly contemporary, stylish and reflective of your unique personalities.

Northbrook’s fireplace is a feature that cries out to be flowered, and so you’ll almost always find it decorated at weddings here. However, I really wanted to go beyond the ordinary and design fireplace florals on a totally new scale. This piece was designed in three parts – one tall column for the right-hand side, blending into the florals atop the fireplace which were designed in single trays, followed by another smaller column on the left-hand side.
The whole feature had repurposing in mind – the single trays are easy to move to create further showstopping moments throughout your venue, and the columns help to transform the doorway in another iteration. The whole design was foam-free and crafted as sustainably as possible. Bloominati always stays up to date with modern design, but finds ways to create your wedding flowers without the use of toxic floral foam. Contemporary in design, contemporary by construction.
Table Florals
Throughout every arrangement and installation in this Northbrook Park design, the pink and red wedding flowers have included roses. In all other areas but the table florals, I added other blooms too – here, the roses are the stars of the show.
An abundant floral table runner comprised solely of bud vases were the perfect way to create a neo-romantic blend of abundance and intentional placement. Here, 50 vases contained 100 individual rose stems from softest pink to brightest telephone box red, with a detour via baby and dusky tones in the middle – an ombre effect showcasing the flowers that formed the basis of the whole design.

Cake Florals
This red and pink wedding floral design didn’t just stop with the major arrangements – cohesive and intentional design details are always used to tell a whole floral story throughout your day.
Adding flowers to your cake or dessert table helps to take you and your guests on a journey on your wedding day, immersing them in an experience that goes beyond the ordinary. It also helps to make a feature of every element of your wedding, transforming your cake table into something to be admired – it also means your cake-cutting photos will be even more special!
At Northbrook Park I designed a mini floral sculpture inspired by the fluffy ruffles of Elizabeth and Cake’s tempting tiers, complete with bouncy roses and frothy amaranthus.

Bouquet Florals
In 2025 the minimal bouquet is having its moment, and I designed a simple yet striking bridal arrangement of 12 cherry red roses. There is often luxury in lightness, and this worked so well because of the contrast with the indulgent floral density of the arrangements and instalments. Roses are inherently and infinitely romantic, and using them in this way is just the bold, modern twist that many of my couples are now seeking.

When designing your wedding flowers I always have these priorities; infusing the florals with your unique style and personality, creating an immersive guest experience, and ensuring your wedding photos will be absolutely iconic through careful consideration of your venue. Couples come to us looking for that abundant, floral style that we are known for, and we always design in our signature style.
Working at Northbrook Park gave me the opportunity to focus on the blend of old and new, creating a chic and stylish experience in an exquisite historic building.
If you’re getting married in a manor house, country estate or other notable building, I’d love to design bold and empathetic florals with a playful use of colour for you.

Lover of baked goods, scented candles, ASOS and the theatre. When I’m not planning gorgeous wedding flowers for my beautiful couples, I’m doting on my little rescue dog, attending a gig, eating pizza or I’m glued to my laptop working when I should probably be relaxing because I absolutely love what I do.
