Francesca & Oliver’s Floral Love Story at Wasing Park

Real Wedding

Wasing Park in Berkshire is a venue that speaks to couples who adore a lush, romantic setting but also want a space that boasts modern features. Francesca and Oliver were the perfect example of this kind of couple. They were drawn to the natural beauty and elegance of Wasing Park, particularly the outdoor Pergola for their ceremony and the striking Castle Barn for their reception. They wanted their day to feel visually stunning yet intimate, with every element carefully designed to create a memorable experience for both themselves and their guests.

Francesca & Oliver: A Dream Couple for Their Wasing Park Wedding

Francesca and Oliver were the kind of couple every wedding florist dreams of working with. Busy professionals, they needed someone they could trust entirely to bring their wedding vision to life without needing to micromanage every detail. Francesca had a very clear idea of what she wanted—an iconic, jaw-dropping ceremony space that would take place under the Pergola and several show-stopping floral moments in the Castle Barn during their wedding breakfast.

Francesca had curated a dream team of wedding suppliers, each of them experts in their field, to ensure their wedding day was everything they had envisioned. Her trust in me to deliver her romantic, modern and abundant floral vision made this a particularly exciting project. She valued my recommendations while staying focused on her own visual priorities and overall goals for the day.

Creating the Perfect Colour Palette and Floral Story at Wasing Park

Francesca and Oliver’s colour palette was one of the key elements that tied their entire wedding design together. They opted for crisp white and blush tones—romantic yet modern, perfect for the lush backdrop of Wasing Park. I built a floral recipe around these shades, incorporating seasonal dahlias, luxe roses, fluffy delphiniums, and lush foliage to reflect the surrounding natural beauty and create a floral story that felt both intimate and grand.

The flowers were designed to enhance the romantic, fun, and relaxed atmosphere of Francesca and Oliver’s day while adding that sense of timeless elegance they were hoping for.

Designing an Iconic Ceremony Backdrop at the Wasing Park Pergola

Francesca and Oliver exchanged their vows beneath the beautiful Pergola at Wasing Park, and I knew we had to make this ceremony space truly unforgettable. Using the Pergola as inspiration, I designed an overflowing floral backdrop that would frame the couple and complement the venue’s unique structure.

We opted to work directly onto the Pergola itself, cascading lush foliage down the columns and weaving floral pieces into the structure to create a design full of height, depth, and interest. The combination of roses, delphiniums, and dahlias added softness, while the foliage gave the design an organic, effortless feel.

Down the aisle, I created abundant flower-filled meadows that lined Francesca’s path, giving her an incredible walk down the aisle. The flowers framed the ceremony space beautifully, reflecting the couple’s personality—fun, relaxed, and full of romance.

Repurposing Ceremony Florals for a Show-Stopping Wedding Breakfast in the Castle Barn

After the ceremony, we seamlessly transitioned the floral meadows from the Pergola into the Castle Barn for the wedding breakfast. I love repurposing ceremony flowers to create new design moments later in the day, and for Francesca and Oliver, we used the meadows to form a stunning top table backdrop.

We layered the meadows on Perspex plinths to create a modern look with plenty of depth and dimension. Pillar candles and flowing linens were added to soften the overall aesthetic and create an intimate, romantic atmosphere in the Castle Barn. The end result was a stunning display that not only provided Francesca and Oliver with beautiful photos but also created a focal point for their guests to enjoy throughout the evening.

A Modern Cake Meadow and Elegant Tablescapes

One of the key floral moments I recommended was using the aisle meadows to surround Francesca and Oliver’s cake table to frame the jaw-dropping design created by Chell Bell’s. We created an ultra-modern cake meadow at the base of the table, where the simplicity of their wedding cake contrasted stylishly with the lush textures and tones of the flowers beneath. This subtle yet impactful design element added a contemporary twist to their wedding decor, tying in beautifully with the rest of the day’s florals.

For the guest tables, we opted for lush, abundant footed bowls filled with flowers that echoed the ceremony and top table designs. These florals helped to carry the floral story across the entire reception space while balancing the denser, more abundant design moments at the cake table and top table. The overall effect was one of timeless elegance, with a modern, intentional design that tied the whole day together perfectly.

The Wasing Park Wedding Experience

Wasing Park is a venue that truly speaks to couples who appreciate both romance and modernity. Its lush, outdoor spaces, paired with the clean, elegant lines of the Castle Barn, offer a perfect canvas for creating a wedding that is both intimate and memorable. Francesca and Oliver’s wedding day was a perfect reflection of this balance, with florals that enhanced the venue’s natural beauty while adding a modern, chic twist.

Francesca was a dream client in every sense—trusting me with the vision and allowing me to make recommendations that aligned with her goals. Together, we created a wedding day that was not only visually stunning but also full of moments of romance, fun, and elegance.

If you’re planning your own wedding at Wasing Park and want to create a floral experience that captures both the romance of the setting and your unique story, I would love to work with you. Let’s bring your wedding day vision to life.
