As a floral designer, it’s always exciting to help couples refine their vision and bring their dream wedding to life. When Natalie and Baba reached out to me to design the florals for their big day at the stunning Firle Place, I knew we were in for something magical. Both had busy lives and needed someone they could trust to take care of the details, while still creating a wedding that felt stylish, modern, and deeply personal, captured in the Bloominati floral design style.
Natalie & Baba: A Chic Vision for Their Firle Place Wedding
Natalie had a clear idea of how she wanted her wedding at Firle Place to look—modern, chic, and filled with thoughtful details. She had so many ideas but was struggling to refine her vision and channel it into a cohesive colour palette and floral story that would reflect their personalities and the story of their love.
Natalie and Baba both lead very busy lives, so it was important that they could relax and enjoy their engagement while knowing their wedding flowers were in expert hands. They wanted someone who could work seamlessly with their venue coordinator at Firle Place and their stylist, Nikki from TOAST HQ, to ensure that everything came together perfectly on the day. My role was not only to guide them through the design process but to create a floral experience that would leave them feeling excited, relaxed, and confident that their wedding was in safe hands.
Crafting the Perfect Colour Palette and Floral Story
When it came to choosing the perfect colour palette, Natalie wanted something that felt stylish yet sentimental. We settled on a soft and chic combination of crisp whites and blush tones, with touches of powder blue—a nod to a colour that held sentimental value for Natalie.
The challenge was to bring these colours together in a way that would capture the essence of their love story and enhance the beautiful spaces of Firle Place. We focused on creating a floral story that felt modern and luxurious while remaining true to the light, airy, and ethereal feel Natalie envisioned for the day.
Designing a Stunning Floral Ceremony Backdrop at Firle Place
The ceremony took place in the stunning courtyard of Firle Place, and we knew we needed something that would truly make a statement. Natalie and Baba are both tall, so it was important that their ceremony backdrop not only framed them beautifully but also showcased the grandeur of the venue’s courtyard.
To achieve this, we designed two 6.5ft floral columns that stood tall and proud, creating a stunning focal point for the ceremony. We chose luxe, premium florals arranged on a bed of white Gypsophila to give the design an ethereal lightness. The floral recipe included Playa Blanca Roses, Quicksand Roses, and fluffy white Hydrangea, all working together to create a look that was both luxurious and timeless. The result was a striking, airy, and modern design that perfectly complemented the historic elegance of Firle Place.
Bridesmaid Bouquets for a Seamless Look
For the bridesmaid bouquets, we wanted to continue the chic, minimal vibe. I recommended en masse bouquets made entirely of blush pink Quicksand Roses, which perfectly tied in with Natalie’s modern vision. These simple yet elegant bouquets complemented the blush bridesmaid dresses and created a seamless, cohesive look across the bridal party. It was all about elegance and understated beauty, with the florals enhancing rather than overpowering the overall aesthetic.
Repurposing Florals for a Show-Stopping Reception at Firle Place
One of my favourite things to do for my couples is to find ways to repurpose florals throughout the day. Not only does this make the most of the floral budget, but it also ensures that the flowers are enjoyed in multiple settings. For Natalie and Baba, we repurposed the floral columns from their ceremony to create a show-stopping backdrop for their top table during the wedding breakfast in the Riding School at Firle Place.
This transformation turned the top table into a key design moment, providing stunning visual interest and ensuring Natalie and Baba had unique, memorable photographs from their day. The columns framed the couple beautifully, bringing a sense of grandeur to the Riding School while maintaining the modern, chic aesthetic we had established earlier in the day.
Minimalist Elegance: Tablescape Design at Firle Place
For the wedding breakfast at Firle Place, we wanted to create a sleek, elegant tablescape that would feel refined yet modern. We opted for minimalist, chic details, using single pink Anthuriums to line the trestle tables. These simple yet striking blooms added a pop of colour while keeping the overall design clean and sophisticated.
The tables were dressed with a light powder grey tablecloth, soft white linen, and deeper grey taper candles, all of which tied the look together beautifully. The use of modern, minimalist design elements allowed the florals to stand out without overwhelming the space, creating an atmosphere of understated luxury for Natalie and Baba’s guests.
A Seamless Collaboration at Firle Place
One of the key elements of this wedding was the collaboration between myself, the venue coordinator at Firle Place, and their stylist Nikki at TOAST HQ. By working closely together, we were able to ensure that every detail was taken care of, allowing Natalie and Baba to focus on enjoying their wedding day.
The seamless flow of communication between the design team meant that everything, from the ceremony to the reception, worked together to create a cohesive, beautiful experience for the couple and their guests. It was a joy to work with such talented professionals and to see Natalie and Baba’s vision come to life at Firle Place.
Creating Memories at Firle Place
Natalie and Baba’s wedding at Firle Place was a perfect example of how thoughtful floral design can elevate a wedding day. From the stunning ceremony backdrop to the elegant, minimalist reception florals, every element was carefully designed to reflect the couple’s style and love story. The venue itself provided a beautiful canvas, and it was an honour to bring their vision to life in such a stunning setting.
At Firle Place, couples like Natalie and Baba can expect a wedding that feels both grand and intimate, with florals that enhance the natural beauty of the venue while adding personal, modern touches. If you’re planning your own wedding at Firle Place and want to create a floral experience that tells your unique story, I would be honoured to work with you.
